The answer to what really belongs to you lies in the encounter with yourself

In our search for happiness and self-determination, we have to let go of some things if we really want to lead a fulfilled life. These include toxic relationships, unfulfilling jobs, negative habits, limiting beliefs, comparisons with others, etc. The need for control and the desire to please everyone is always at the expense of our own well-being.  Let's take a closer look at each of these aspects to understand why they hold us back and how we can free ourselves from them.

Firstly, toxic relationships can leach us out - emotionally and mentally - and make us feel small and unworthy. Whether it's a friend, a partner or a family member, if someone is constantly bringing negativity into our lives, it's important to distance ourselves from them. By surrounding ourselves with supportive and uplifting people, we can create a positive environment that promotes our growth and happiness.

Similarly, staying in a job that doesn't align with our passions and values can surpress our potential and hinder our personal development. If we find ourselves in a role that doesn't bring us joy or allow us to grow, it may be time to rethink our career path and look for opportunities that bring us fulfilment and growth.  Leaving a job that no longer fulfils us can open up new opportunities and enable us to follow our true calling.

Negative habits and limiting beliefs are also detrimental to our wellbeing and prevent us from realising our full potential. Whether it's negativity, self-doubt or perfectionism, these behaviours can sabotage our efforts and prevent us from achieving our goals. By recognising and letting go of these habits and beliefs, we can create space for positive change and personal growth.

Comparing ourselves to others often leads to feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. Everyone's journey is unique, and focusing on your own growth and progress is far more encouraging than constantly measuring yourself against external standards. Embracing our individuality and honouring our strengths can help us to develop self-confidence and inner peace.

The need for control and the desire to please everyone can also be obstacles to our happiness and self-determination. Trying to control every aspect of our lives down to the smallest detail or constantly seeking approval from others can lead to stress, anxiety and burnout. When we learn to let go of the need for control and prioritise our own well-being, we can develop a sense of inner peace and fulfilment.
